 Summary: How Many

Christina Rossetti (1830 – 1894) is one of the few women poets of the Victorian era whose

poetry has stayed popular and relevant even in modern times—perhaps because she

addressed generic themes.

This poem talks about Time, something which can never become dated. It progresses from

one of the smallest divisions, namely, the second and steadily progresses from minutes, to

hours, days, weeks, months, and years to ages. But the speaker says that no one can answer

the last question—How many ages in time? This is because time is endless—it never stops.
