Raintree 2 Avani and the Pea Plant

Summary: Avani and the Pea Plant

One morning, when Avani is passing a bowl of peas to her mother in the kitchen, one pea

falls from the bowl unnoticed by anyone. A series of coincidences lead the pea to fall into a

hole in the garden. It stays there till suitable conditions help it turn into a sapling. When

Avani and her mother see it, they are surprised and wonder who planted it.

The story cleverly introduces the students to the concept of germination. It can be the

starting point of learning about different kinds of plants, and how and where they grow.
